Generally, I believe wearing dress shirt with a tie would make one looks very corporate-like, clerical (take a look at Trump Jr below). One might look even better wearing a shirt without a tie. If you think it is too plain, top it up with a nice jacket.

Hello!
I agree: Dress shirts with ties is too formal, and frankly, too freakin’ uncomfortable.
Ties can look very nice, but as workplace attire, they’re best left in the past where that practice began!
